Target Violent Crime We are focused on reducing violent crime in our communities. That means directing our prosecutorial resources to go after the individuals who are driving violent crime. New strategy to curb violent crime As part of a new initiative to reduce violent crime, prosecutors, investigators and analysts are working together as a team to gather data and intelligence, analyze the information to support investigations and prosecutions, and guide violent crime enforcement priorities. We've deputized officers from law enforcement agencies in Providence, Pawtucket and Central Falls to provide greater ability to investigate suspects across municipal jurisdictions. We know that there is often a close relationship between narcotics-related offenses and the use of firearms. Most of these cases involve the possession, use, and discharge of firearms, often during other violent crimes. The task force has prioritized information sharing and analysis across those agencies through the use of a data analyst and platform, which allows the team to quickly draw connections between different crime scenes and weave together police reports and other records to help identify suspects and witnesses.
